What is an emergency? How do I know if my pet needs urgent care?
Not all emergency situations are obvious. You know your pet best, but here is a list of common instances where you should seek urgent/emergency vet care:
Traumatic injury (hit by car, dog fight, broken bones, open wounds, etc)
Ingestion of a known toxic substance or foreign object
Difficulty breathing
Seizures
Vomiting/Diarrhea for more than 24 hours
Continuous non-productive vomiting/retching
Blood in vomit, stool, or urine
Sudden disorientation/confusion
Collapse/unconsciousness
Inability or straining to urinate
Hard/swollen abdomen
Inability to deliver while in labor
Pale gum color
Eye injury
